Think Architecture is proud to announce the promotion of Stephen Peaden to Principal Landscape Architect. With over 13 years of industry experience—including six years at Think Architecture—Stephen has played a vital role in shaping dynamic outdoor spaces that blend creativity, functionality, and community engagement.
“Stephen’s leadership, expertise, and dedication to thoughtful design have significantly contributed to our firm,” said Corey Solum, CEO and Principal Architect. “His ability to balance aesthetic appeal with practical functionality makes him a valuable asset to Think Architecture. We are excited to see him thrive in this new role.”
A Key Contributor to Think Architecture’s Success
Stephen’s impact at Think Architecture can be seen in a wide range of projects. His work spans high-end residential landscapes, large-scale park master plans, sports complexes, and mixed-use developments. One of his standout contributions is Bingham Creek Regional Park, Salt Lake County’s largest park, which showcases his passion for designing meaningful outdoor environments that enhance public life.
“From the beginning, I had the opportunity to work on incredible projects,” Stephen shared. “Bingham Creek Regional Park was a dream project for me, and since then, I’ve been fortunate to contribute to many more spaces that bring people together. Collaborating with the architects at Think has been a rewarding experience, as we share a common vision for aesthetics and space planning.”
Beyond project work, Stephen has been a mentor and advocate for a positive office culture, fostering collaboration across disciplines. His promotion to Principal Landscape Architect aligns with the firm’s commitment to strengthening its multidisciplinary approach to design.
A Career Rooted in Creativity and Nature
Stephen’s path to landscape architecture was shaped by a deep-rooted connection with nature and an early interest in design. Initially studying mechanical engineering and pilot training, he discovered landscape architecture as a career that perfectly merged technical problem-solving with artistic creativity.
“Looking back, it all makes sense,” Stephen said. “As a kid, I was always sketching nature scenes, designing cities in SimCity, and experimenting with 3D home design software. When I learned about landscape architecture, I realized it was the ideal fit for my interests and skills.”
He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Management from Brigham Young University and later a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning from Utah State University.
Stephen draws inspiration from both his family and his love for the outdoors. “When I design a space, I think about how my kids would use it. Is it safe? Is it engaging? Does it bring people together? Watching my children interact with parks gives me valuable insight into what makes a space truly functional and enjoyable.”
He also incorporates elements from his outdoor adventures, including hiking, mountain biking, and camping, into his designs, using textures, materials, and plant selections to create immersive experiences.
Leading the Future of Landscape Architecture at Think
As he steps into this leadership role, Stephen is focused on expanding the firm’s landscape architecture department, strengthening client relationships, and fostering a collaborative and innovative office culture.
“Being a Principal allows me to have a greater impact on the direction of our projects and client relationships,” Stephen noted. “I want our clients to feel confident and inspired throughout the design process. My goal is to ensure that our landscape architecture services continue to be recognized for excellence and thoughtful planning.”
Think Architecture continues to reinforce its reputation as a leader in architecture, interior design, planning, and landscape architecture. Stephen’s promotion reflects the firm’s dedication to providing high-level design services and shaping the future of built environments with innovation and integrity.
“I truly believe Think Architecture is on the brink of something great,” Stephen shared. “Our leadership has put so much effort into building a firm that values teamwork, creativity, and high-quality service. With the talented team we have, I see us reaching new heights, and I’m honored to be part of that journey.”
