At Think Architecture, we’re always excited to welcome new team members who bring hands-on experience and a passion for collaboration. Emerson Hymas, our newest BIM Operator, joins us with a background in Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and a deep appreciation for quality design—especially the kind that reflects the unique character of the Mountain West.

Emerson Hymas, BIM Operator at Think Architecture, featured in Fresh Thinkers series spotlighting VDC experience and design passion.

A Solid Foundation in Design

Emerson studied Virtual Design and Construction at BYU–Idaho in Rexburg, where he took on internships that gave him valuable exposure to real-world projects. One focused on gas station and convenience store design, while the other was with a high-end residential design-build firm in Driggs, Idaho. The residential work, in particular, sparked a deeper interest in thoughtful, well-detailed homes—many of which reminded him of the styles he admired at Think Architecture.

When the opportunity arose to return to Utah with his wife to be closer to family, Emerson was drawn to Think. “We were looking for something that felt like a good fit—and this was it,” he says.

A Place to Learn and Grow

What excites Emerson most about his new role is the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals and work on projects with real impact.

“I’m excited for the experience and knowledge available here,” he shares. “There’s a lot of design talent in this firm, and I’m looking forward to seeing how all the details come together in our projects.”
