Dojo Construction set out to be a different kind of general contractor. From its earliest days, the firm focused on relationships, honest communication, and supporting clients and partners throughout the construction journey, not just delivering a finished building.
A Leadership Team Built on Experience
That mindset traces directly to Dojo’s founding leadership. President and founder Cody Flamm spent 17 years at Layton Construction, advancing from project management into executive leadership. Through that experience, he developed a clear understanding of how successful projects depend as much on trust and alignment as they do on technical execution.
When launching Dojo, Cody partnered with Doug Peterson, whose background spans high-end custom residential and commercial construction. Doug brings a strong, relationship-driven approach to field leadership, helping ensure that plans translate smoothly into execution on site.
Brandon Weaver joined the executive team to lead pre-construction efforts, adding more than 20 years of experience guiding projects from early concept through certificate of occupancy. Together, the leadership team balances planning, field execution, and accountability, creating a steady foundation for complex commercial work.
A Name That Reflects the Work
The name “Dojo” comes from Japanese characters meaning “a place along the path,” a philosophy that closely mirrors how the firm approaches its role. Dojo sees construction as a journey for its clients, one that requires clarity, discipline, and trust at every stage.
Rather than dictating outcomes, the team views its role as supporting the client’s path. By focusing on transparency and craftsmanship, Dojo helps owners move through the process with confidence, knowing that their priorities remain front and center.
A Shared Approach with Think Architecture
Dojo’s partnership with Think Architecture reflects this shared, owner-focused mindset. The firms have completed several commercial and multifamily projects together, ranging from approximately $4 million to $30 million, with consistent success for clients.
On projects such as Enduro Townhomes and Black Ridge Townhomes, Think Architecture contributed strong design vision, thoughtful planning, and responsiveness throughout the process. Dojo complemented that work with disciplined pre-construction planning, transparent pricing, experienced field leadership, and trusted trade partnerships. Close collaboration from early planning through execution allowed both teams to maintain design integrity while delivering efficient, well-crafted projects.
Process, Communication, and Accountability
Dojo places strong emphasis on early pre-construction engagement, including involving field teams who will ultimately build the project. When field staff understands design intent and owner expectations early, execution is smoother and more predictable.
Communication is equally critical. Dojo believes success is measured not only by schedule and budget, but by the strength of long-term relationships. Owners already manage significant complexity, from financing to land acquisition and risk. They should not have to manage tension between architects and contractors. By treating designers and trade partners as true collaborators, Dojo helps create a more cohesive and effective project team.
Looking Ahead
Dojo Construction is focused on continued growth across townhome developments, commercial office projects, and work in the healthcare sector. The team is especially energized by opportunities that involve strong creative partnerships, where collaboration, trust, and craftsmanship remain central. Alongside Think Architecture, Dojo continues to build not just projects, but lasting relationships along the path.
